Suddenly, at last, there are more than rustlings and faint stirrings of musical activity again; things are afoot! I've been digging into the unfinished musical archives and finishing things. A bit of singing here, a bit of flute there, and so on; so the plan is to get on with those previously planned albums.
Hello, welcome to this new site, which is under construction. My "proper" Thistle Cottage Recordings website, that I paid for for several years, in the end wasn't so proper as it didn't work! After very frustrating times of not being able to gain access to it to edit and add new things, it being very limited in styles and design, and it the web hosting being taken over by another company which made it even worse....well, enough is enough, and it's all been moved over here where things work, until I can set up another website (if I do so). So please bear with me as I transport all the relevant information and add new things!
Special interview of me by Martin Gordon; where I happily got to chat about art, music, Victoriana, and two new pictures). You can find this on the page on the menu.
New Music Being Written/Record Collecting
I'm writing and recording several brand-new songs right now. One always tries to progress with each new project, and these songs are quite different from most anything I've recorded before; so some new ideas and re-invention has been happening, and dissimilar ways of composing and recording.
I've been doing a lot of record and cd collecting again over the past few months, and it has been joyful to find all these amazing records. One area that I've never particularly concentrated on before is 45 rpm singles, and have been gathering some wonderful seventies European singles with the picture sleeves.
On browsing through a music magazine this past weekend, I was delighted to see an article about the return of the record shop, and how new stores are opening up again. Perhaps we could possibly get back to the way it used to be, when you could go out and buy new music. I'm very grateful that there are two very good record shops not far from me.

Round Spinning Things! As in compact discs, as I just collected the first batch of Oakenwood cds and they look rather stunning; and the jewel cases have arrived today, so am busy putting them together and working on finishing the booklet artwork .
