Glasven CD 1 (the Scottish, Robert Burns, folk-themed acoustic one)

Glasven TCR 001  *limited edition*  2007

At the time of making these recordings, I was in the midst of a traditional Scottish folk music phase, very smitten with it, and of reading old Scottish books and stories too.  I liked the writings of the poet Robert Burns, and got the idea of composing music to go along with some of the poems and verses.

The first TCR musical project, which was released into the wild in May of 2009, and named for the auld Scots Gaelic Highland place-name, meaning 'blue/grey or green mountain.'
An album true to the spirit of traditional Scottish folk music; evoking a timeless and romantic mixture of sounds, images and moods, redolent of mossy mountains, peat and heather, lochs and glens, misty mornings, a cosy fireside at the gloaming...
Glasven is fully immersed in the presence of the Scottish Highlands, the green and heathery splendour of that scenery and in the conveying of old songs full of love, passion and yearning, all in traditional, acoustic style, with guitar, flute and mandolin.
The theme running through Glasven is the songs and poems of the great poet Robert Burns, and consists of recordings developed from 2006-2007.  The music was composed by myself , except for tracks 6 and 9, which are traditional melodies.  All vocals, instrumentation, recording, mixing and album art were my doing as well.

"Glasven- a beautiful album that suits the moods of the Scottish landscape!   This is a wonderful album by Lori Hartbarger, it is very atmospheric and very evocative of the highlands, we took the album on a trip to Scotland and the music formed a beautiful background to our journey. I would highly recommend  this CD to anyone who enjoys traditional music."  Gilly Farrie, England.
