Songs from the shire...Wend a
merry way along an ancient country pathway. Rural English life, real or
idealised; shire horses, rustling field mice and mysterious hares, fires in
great hearths, autumn evenings.
14 tracks of original songs and
music with vocals, acoustic & electric guitar, flute, keyboards, mandolin
and occasional eccentric percussion.
The booklet consists of 12 pages
of handwritten lyrics and pen and ink drawings made with great care, and is

Oakenwood is an album
long in the making, as the lyrics are among the earliest songs I've written.
It's satisfying to finally have a proper recordingof them, as they had been
languishing away in a dark folder and tape boxes longing to come out into the
light of day and be shared, even in this rustic and less than perfect final
cd-r. It is also interspersed with some earlier little
instrumentals.
Oakenwood is rather an
indulgence into a long obsession with the English countryside. Songs from the
Shire, a pleasant jaunt for an English autumn; wending our way over ancient
pathways and through the woods...
Lori, Is there any place where I can listen to MP3's or snippets of your music? I love the concept of this and would love to hear a little of it if possible.
Hello, I'm sorry I only just saw your comment, things have been all out-of-sorts! Until I set up a new site, you can hear things over on my Soundcloud site here: https://soundcloud.com/thistlecottagerecordings
